Kindergarten V jame
New preschool building on the existing grounds
Kindergarten as part of nature and public space
The V Jame Kindergarten is an example of how a public building can non-intrusively fit into its environment while creating high-quality facilities for educating the youngest. We placed the building into a slope in the southwestern part of the plot so that it naturally connects to the surrounding greenery. The result is architecture that blends with the terrain and opens up space for the expansion of the park over the building's green roof.
The design minimizes land use and creates a new type of public space – a roof as part of the landscape that serves both children and the community.
Architecture that supports curiosity.
The building's floor plan has an elongated shape and is conceived as a "slit in the slope." Thanks to generous lighting atriums, all spaces have access to daylight, which significantly contributes to a healthy indoor climate. The materials used respect the character of the place – wood, greenery, and natural shades merge into a harmonious whole.
Exterior as part of teaching.
The surrounding school grounds are not just a space for play, but an extension of the learning environment. A multifunctional wooden stage, playgrounds, and paths form the basis for outdoor teaching, community events, and daily movement. Greenery passes over the roof, from the park into the school and from the school back to the city.
Sustainability and public benefit.
The project was created in close cooperation with the city of Trnava, which has been investing in quality public infrastructure for a long time. At Playarchitects, we believe that public buildings should be not only functional but also thoughtfully designed – with long-term value for children, parents, and the wider community. The V Jame Kindergarten is an answer to the question of how architecture can support community life while respecting the landscape.
The V Jame kindergarten project illustrates our philosophy – to design spaces that work, have a story, and bring value not only to their users but also to the city in which they are created.
